| Bollywood | 91, Actress Achla Sachdev passes away on Sunday ,30.04.2012 in Pune Hospital after a prolonged illness. She was patient of Bronchial Asthma . Achalaji, slipped in her kitchen and suffered a fracture in her leg in September 2011 .Soon she was diagnosed with multiple emboli in her brain, which led to total paralysis and blindness. As reports claim, her condition became extremely critical a few days ago and she was on ventilator support since then .She was born in Peshawar in 1920.She was survived by a son Jyoti,65 yrs,who stayed at US. Her funeral will take place at the Vaikunth Crematorium at 5.30pm on Tuesday, 1.5.12.
She had worked in about 250 films. She was also active in small screen ,Televion. Her last film was with Hrithic Roshan -Esha Deol in Na Tum Jano Naa Hum in 2002.Achla Sachdev had played the role of beautiful wife of Balraj Sahani in B.R.Chopara’s” WAQT” for whom he crooned “Aae Meri Zohrajabin. She made her debut with ‘Fashionable Wife’ in 1938 .She had donated Rs. 20.lac & gifted her sprawling two bed room apartments in Pune Camp to the Janaseva Foundation, an NGO. she married a British engineer named Clifford Douglas Peters, whom she was introduced to by Yash Chopra. Peters owned a factory on the outskirts of Pune and the couple lived in a bungalow. Her husband passed away in 2002.
